Join us Thursday, April 17, at 7pm for the Maundy Thursday Service
This is the first service of the ancient Triduum (three days) of Holy Week: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. Ideally all three services should be attended to experience the fullness of Holy Week. The Maundy Thursday service begins with celebratory music and visual splendor as we commemorate the Last Supper and the institution of Holy Communion. The mood of the service then shifts dramatically with the stripping away of all the altar decorations to signify Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, his arrest, and his abandonment by his disciples. The service ends with a candlelit procession led by the choir to the transept chapel. This is a beautiful and powerful service that engages us in the full range of our emotions as we reflect on the meaning of Christ’s love for us during Holy Week.
